DIY Craft Series (Weekend Four): How to Make A Christmas Ball Wreath

Hi There!

I've got a bargain for you with this DIY project!  You can make this Christmas Ball Wreath for half the price you would pay for it, in a department store.

There are six simple DIY101 steps that you need to follow and the rest is history... Let's get started!

What Do You Need:
a glue gun
a package of glue sticks (at least 50)
a 16 inch Styrofoam wreath form
60 small size Christmas ball ornaments (non-glass)
65 medium size Christmas ball ornaments (non-glass)

STEP 2 & 3:
STEP 2:  (1st photo) Begin by applying hot glue from your glue gun to the inside of the Styrofoam wreath.  Start by gluing the large balls to the inside of the wreath, first.  Repeat around, until you have the entire inside done.

STEP 3:  (2nd photo) Note how your wreath should begin to look as you continue to add large balls on the inside.

Now, once you have the inside done, this is when the fun starts!  Begin adding small balls, next to the large balls, just as I show you in this photo.  Next repeat around, adding both the large and small balls consecutively.  You want to concentrate on covering the Styrofoam form before you begin worrying about the shape of the wreath.  That will happen automatically, as you continue to add the balls.

Ok!  Keep adding the balls, just as I show you again, in this photo, until the white foam is not showing.  After you complete that, then with the remaining balls you have left, fill in the gaps.  Using the balls you have leftover, fill in areas that look empty. Use your judgment to determine if you need to fill in the gap with a small or large ball.  The more balls you add, the prettier and fuller your wreath will look.  You are doing good!  IMPORTANT:  As you fill in the gaps, begin to focus on the roundness of the wreath, on the outer edges.  You want to keep it as round as you can and as equally balanced as you can, all the way around.  It's ok if some of the balls on the outer area are sticking out more than others, as long as overall, the wreath looks evenly proportioned all the way around.

Congratulations!  You did it!  This is pretty much what your Christmas Ball Wreath should look like.  Wrap it up nicely and store it in a safe place because it will be time to show it off, very soon!!

Remember, as with any other resource, if you use this idea , please give credit to for the craft project and DIY instructions.  You get the credit for your hard work :-)!!  Thanks!
Happy Holidays!

Daryn:  Founder & Owner
                  Ramsey's Corner
                  P.O. Box 363
                  Aberdeen, MD  21001

"I'm created for the purpose to communicate by passion, inspiration and creativity..." sat down with Daryn Ramsey, founder & owner of Ramsey's Corner!  We captured this in depth story and you will be moved and inspired as you read about  this writer, future blogger and potential entrepreneur, that speaks openly, honestly and biblically about his gift, his passion and his purpose!
Ramsey’s Corner serves as an outlet and platform to express Daryn's creativity as a sports writer, without neglecting the traditional sports material that fans still adore.  "You are never too old to dream and if there is something that you have always wanted to do, or anything that you really have a passion for, the opportunity will eventually become available." He shared a scripture with me, that he often thinks about:

Proverbs 18:16, a man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.

Early on as a child, he had a passion for sports. Writing is something that he really enjoys and it has always come easy to him. From grade school through college, he enjoyed a very successful sports career, competing with and against some of the best athletes in the nation. About 20 years ago, he began to visualize the possibilities of sports writing. He didn't know how this would happen, however, he envisioned capturing a historical aspect of the sports scene in his hometown, Neptune, New Jersey. When it comes to sports writing, there is no limit to the creative material that he can produce. For him, topics and subject matter come, effortlessly. They flow from my mind, to my fingertips, to the keyboard and to you! Just like milk and honey, I’m steady, focused and in my zone, when I write!  I'm created for the purpose to communicate by passion, inspiration and creativity.

In 2014, Daryn began the preliminary phase of his sports and writing interest by creating his Official Twitter account @DRamSportCorner and in 2015 he will launch his very own blog called Ramsey's Corner!   By connecting the two, Ramsey's Corner is hoping to promote and assist in facilitating and fielding future sports opportunities/events, local and abroad.  His blog will be interactive and complete, with interviews, sport updates, advertising, video, sports trivia, pictorials, college recruiting, and much more. It will be exciting, dynamic and in real time!

Alternative Way of Using a Common Household Item: The Power of Baby Powder!

I've got a secret to getting grease out and not sure if you all know about this little tip!  I learned about baby powder and the magic it works, years ago.  Once I found out that it could take grease out of silk, I knew then, this was something I have to keep with me!  Since then, I've learned so many other things that baby powder is good for.  Besides keeping baby butts soft and keeping us adults fresh, baby powder is a "power powder"!

Everytime I see someone spill oil, butter or grease on their clothes and I am around them, I whip out my travel size container of baby powder and tell them to apply it quickly, to get that stain out. You have to let the powder set for at least 15-20 minutes, but it works.  You will actually see it dry to a pasty substance, outlining where the stain is.  After you have let it set, take a paper towel and lighty dust off the powdery area and the stain will be gone.  If not gone totally, it will be almost gone and surely less visible, than the original stain.  For an even better effect, after letting the stain absorb the powder, throw the clothing article into the washer and let it cycle through.  This will absolutely remove the stain.

That's my tidbit about the power of baby powder but if you visit other sites, you will see additional alternatives to using baby powder.  Keep it handy and never worry about how to get grease out of your clothing anymore!  Especially when, you are away from home and need to get an accidental stain out of your clothing, like "right now"!!.  Trust me, you will be so happy and grateful that your baby powder is right there with you, your new!

*You can use generic baby powder also. is not advertising this brand but sharing what is used by this site only, as a cleaning tip/suggestion

Trendy & Chic: Let it Snow!

Courtesy Photo:
Sharing a ski wear site with you on my blog that is one of the hottest sites I've  found.  This is not a photo or resource.  All credit given to and sharing my thoughts only, about how much I love, love, love their snow gear!
OMG!  This is strictly for my ladies!!  I've got to share this with you all today.  Ok.  They are calling for the start of light snow this weekend and I have to sidetrack from the home decor talk to fashion, for a minute!  Here's what going on with me.  My husband has been wanting us to go snow tubing for the longest and I am so fearful of anything that takes me out of my regular routine.  Can you believe that?  I talk so much about being innovative, introducing new things to yourself and daring to be different, you would think that I am game to try anything, right?  Not!! I am a scary person when it comes to some daring stuff like, snow tubing, snorkeling and skiing.  Really, I am!  But here's the thing, I absolutely love snow gear!  Yes, I will drop some money for a nice ski coat in a hot minute but never go skiing or even visit a ski resort...(stop laughing)!
I'm sharing this photo sketch, this website and all credit that surrounds it, of, the hottest ski gear I know!  Now, let me be clear, without a doubt, you will spend some money for their ski fashion but I guarantee, you will look hotter than hot!  Your husband or significant other will let you know it too!!
Check this site out and let me know what you think.  I'm  working on my fear of fighting those slopes and hoping to surprise my husband with a different side of me, soon!  The ski gear they sell at is so cute ladies and you just feel cute in their stuff.  Even if you own just one or two pieces, you will  feel good!  I'm not advertising for them but I'm raving about them because their gear is just tight and right!  Check them out, when you can....
* will always give credit to the resource that they are blogging about and all credit goes to not to ... I'm exploring, sharing & connecting, so you can join me in looking cuter  (smile) :-)...Make it a great day!

Wednesday, October 29, 2014 Office Project: Good News...I'm Moving on to Phase Two!

Hi There!

Well, I'm happy to announce that I have finished cleaning out about 90% of the room that will be my Office Headquarters!  Oh yea, I'm about to virtually begin, birthing my consulting firm that I have been dreaming about for so long.  Ever since I became a certified interior decorator back in 1997, I never stopped dreaming, that one day, I would have a chance to actually begin making this dream come true.  I have always loved to make crafty things, crochet and decorate.
I wallpapered my bedroom when I was 15 years old.  I will never forget it.  I can't believe my parents let me do it, but they did!

Like I said in my bio, I absolutely love decorating!  For real!  So, I'm about to put my vision board together with ideas for my office and I have set a date to finish this project by the end of February 2015.  It's a realistic date for me because I need to purchase my furniture for my office and I have to save some more!  But that's the finish date and I promised I would share it with you!

Check out how much of the room I have cleaned out and organized.  I even hung a temporary shower curtain up in my bathroom and added some old area rugs I had, to give it a fresh look, for now.  I am beaming with joy over my progress.  This room was a mess!!

LOL...yay, I'm ready for Phase Two....stay tuned!!!

Much Love....Deb

Wow!  It's only 58 days left until Christmas day or 8 weeks and 2 days left, if you want to think of it in that way.  I can't believe the holiday season is coming so fast.  Thanksgiving is only 30 days away! Yes, it's definitely time to start thinking about your plans.  We love celebrating the holidays in our house and our decorations start going up a week before Thanksgiving.  We like to start early enough that we can get a good month or more, to enjoy the decorations, gllitter and lights!

I'll be sharing "how to" make a Christmas wreath with you this week for week 4 of our DIY Craft series.  I apologize for not posting it this past weekend, but life caught up with me and I'm a little late.  Sorry!  Hope you are getting into the spirit of the holidays too.  I'll be posting more holiday ideas, as we get closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Time to get ready!

Make it a great day...

My Thought for Today: Destiny (Blogger Story)

Do you remember my "Wanna Be Blogger" post?  I'm sure, because out of all of my post reviews, that is the most popular one being read (crazy right!).  I'm not sure if that's good or!!  Well, I'm here to report that I have been in the blogging game now for 2 solid months and guess what?

Good News:  I'm having a breakthrough and not a!

Yes, things are better than I thought they would be after two months. I can see that others are viewing my posts and I have gained a few subscribers too! You know I like to keep it real and if I had not had any activity on my site, after two months and 70 posts later, you would know it (stop laughing)!  It's the truth.  I am thrilled of how well I am doing, interacting with everyone after only 60 days online.

So, I guess I can officially say I've graduated from "wanna" to  "wishful".  What do I mean?  Well, when I first started out on this journey, I felt a little nervous about the whole blogging thing.  I wasn't sure if I would be able to share ideas that meant anything, to anyone.  I didn't know how well I would learn how to use a blog roll and further, if I would be able to manipulate content, using the blogger administrative tools.  It was all so overwhelming and looked crazy hard for me to learn, without real live help!

I'm doing my thing, doing it well and wanted to 'thank you" for supporting me.  It may be wishful thinking but my destiny is looking pretty good!

What is your destiny?  Join in and share your comments below.  I would love to hear from you!

My Thought For Today: Me Time Compromise

Happy TGIF!  Another weekend is here and so are the plans we have been making for Friday through Sunday evening!
Sometimes our plans are to relax, kick back and take it easy.  Other times, we may want to hang out, shop or stroll around the community, to release some anxiety and stress, we have been dealing with all week.  Many times, no matter how well you make plans, something else always seems to get in the way.  Have you ever had that happen to you?

Your spouse or significant other, may have made plans for the both of you and because you had no idea what he or she was planning, you share with them nicely, that you already made some plans of your own, for the weekend.  Nothing negative of course, but perhaps she wants to get with the girls this weekend to plan a craft show or network on entrepreneur ideas or he may want to catch up with the guys to watch a football game on television or better yet, go to a live football game, that is happening right in town that weekend.

This happens!  Yes, especially when you have a spouse or significant other, that loves spending time with you.  That's a good thing, for sure.  But, sometimes, we, as individuals, just want that "me time", sometimes.  So, what do you do when this happens and before it turns into a dispute?  Compromise.

Meet each other halfway.  Come to an understanding, make a deal, make concessions, find a happy medium, strike a balance, give and take. Just find a way to compromise, quickly, so the weekend does not pass, either of you by.  A true love story never ends.  It just keeps getting better...
Have a nice weekend ;-) and if you can relate to this thought for the day, please share your "love story" comments at the end of this post!  I would love to hear from you!

Decorating with Colors: The Color Burgundy

CARPET (Dominant Color)
So, here we go...the color burgundy is the color in question and the color I want to share ideas on today. Burgundy has been a fashion staple color, for years. When I think of burgundy, I think of richness, timeless, classy and the dark color of wine. Burgundy is a hue that pairs perfectly with grays, blues, and off white. You know a color that is timeless with burgundy? Navy Blue. This color combination is as rich as it gets!

Ever wondered what makes you gravitate more toward some colors, than others?  Well, there are quite a few articles about what color says about what kind of person you are.  There is no scientific support for it, but generally, colors, let people know a little bit more about themselves.
I was asked about what I knew about colors and I never really thought about it, until I was asked.  Perhaps, I never really struggle over choosing colors because I pretty much gravitate toward the same colors, all the time.  I usually have to add a print or pattern to my colors, for variety, because I see things more abstract.
My ability to choose colors and visually coordinate them into a color combination that blends well, is a gift.  It comes easy for me but for others, it may not.  That's ok!   Remember, "My Purpose" for that I shared with you on a prior post, last week:
There is no standard on how stunning something has to be; only that it is better than it was before.
Here's a few color combinations that I think will work well with worries on who will like it!  Make it a better look for you and your family.  That's who matters!  Share a comment at the end of this post.  I would love to hear from you!

Light Burgundy, Black, Slate Blue, Light Grey, Off White Palette
Use for ACCESSORIES (pillows, pictures, lamps, mirrors)

Consider using for your Furniture (you can use one piece in this color or an entire set in this color, love seat and sofa) and Window Treatments also

Use this color for one piece of furniture only (not more than one because dark colored furniture tends to wear) and Window Treatments or Paint One Wall as an Accent Color (this would look really rich with burgundy carpet painted as one wall only, in the living room)

Entertaining & Recipe: How to Make A Deep Fried Whole Chicken

I'm sharing one of my favorite chicken recipes!  If you like chicken, you will love it prepared like this.  It's so good and juicy like this too!  The outside will be crunchy and the seasonings, when combined together, will blow you away when you taste it for the first time.  I'm also sharing my dinner menu below, to give you an idea of what I will be serving with my deep fried whole chicken.

You'll notice that everything I have on my menu, can be purchased in multiple amounts or in a large quantity.  That's the secret to saving money, when hosting a party!  Think of food items, that will feed a lot of people.  This dinner is going to feed 10 of my guests, me and my husband and it's not going to break our bank!

I'm also going to make up some menu cards for the place settings with a simple pair of scalloped crafting scissors and cardstock.  It's simple to do...purchase a gold or silver marker from Michael's Craft Shop and print the names on each card.  Additionally, purchase a small hole puncher, punch a hole in the top of the tag, add ribbon that matches your table setting and you are set to serve!

Ok.  Here's my menu but better yet, here's my recipe for deep fried whole chicken.  You can find variations of this recipe online but I modified it by adding a few things to mine that I think you will like, so let me know what you think!

Note:  Safety is first!  Please be carfeul when using cooking oils.  Oil pops sometimes and can burn you very quickly, so please be cautious of that.  Use hand mitts and potholders to avoid burns and please keep children away from the stove top, whenever in use.

Deviled Eggs
Cherry Peppers stuffed with Tunafish
Celery stuffed with Cream Cheese
Chopped Salad

Baked Potatoes with Butter & Chives
Deep Fried Whole Chickens
Fried Cabbage with Sweet Onions

Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches (bake large cookies and add ice cream in between)

Cranberry, Pineapple & Ginger Ale mix w/mint leaf
Water w/slice of lemon

Deep Fried Whole Chickens - OMG, can I tell you how much I love my chicken prepared like this!  You and your guests will love it too, just follow the instructions, closely and please add the rosemary (it really flavors the chicken well)...enjoy!!

*(This is recipe for 1 whole chicken - repeat steps for more than one)
    1 whole chicken (medium size)
     rosemary flakes
3 cups of flour
onion powder
garlic powder
Lawry's Seasoning Salt (no salt or substitute salt will work also)
a pinch of cayenne pepper (use black pepper if you don't want to spice it up)
cooking oil
Large Dutch Oven pot
Wash chicken inside and out; pat dry well with paper towel (you do not want water dripping because water will cause oil to pop). Wash your hands.  Now, mix flour and spices together. Dip whole chicken into flour mixture. Coat well, inside and out.  Fill pot 1/2 full with cooking oil. Heat oil on medium heat until hot. Shake chicken before putting into the pot. Allow chicken to cook throughout, until done.  Cooking time should take about 20-25 minutes but may take longer depending on the size chicken you have.  *Just be sure you check the meat when you take it out to be sure its cooked inside (you can safely use a meat thermometer also if you have one).  If it does not look done, put it back into the oil.  Use a utensil that will allow you to keep lifting the chicken out to check for doneness and as it gets golden brown (sometimes I use two long speared forks to pierce chicken on each side, to lift).  You should be able to use this cooking oil to fry 2 medium whole chickens before it begins to burn and then you will need to replace old oil with fresh oil. Place on rack and let excess oil drain.  Cool for 5-8 minutes and begin slicing to serve!  Yummy!!!!

Functional or Frilly? My 5 Ideas for Layering & Accessorizing Decorative Pillows

Hi There!

Let's have some pillow talk!  I absolutely love decorative pillows.  I have them on every piece of furniture in our living room but can I be truthful with you?  They are not functional!  They are just frilly and pretty!  So, depending on your decorative taste and preference, you can pick functional, which is not ornamental or frilly which has no limits..haha!!  I choose frilly because as you already know, I am an out-of-the-box kind of person and I like to be different.
Remember, my goal is to make you like'm just kidding!!!  However, I always want to try and introduce you so some new things and dare you to be different.

Pillows are a great accessory for testing your creativeness.  You can choose all colors, sizes, patterns, ornamental or functional.  It's your choice!  Every pillow you see here is from Pier One Imports.  Even my pillows that are displayed, with the 5 ideas I share with you on layering your pillows.  I purchased all of these pillows from Pier One Imports.  They are stocked with an assortment and some are pricey but some are not.  Mix and match, to keep your cost down.

My 5 ideas are actual photos of how I have displayed my pillows in my own living room.  The intent is to give you an idea of how you can layer and mix & match pillows, by only investing in a few.  I have invested in 9 pillows and I mix & match them, all year long.  Every now and then, I will purchase one or two additional colors to shake things up a little bit.  Have fun, think innovative and creative!  I'm here for you, if you have questions (smile).
Did you enjoy this idea?   Was it helpful? Please join in and share your comments at the end of this post.  I would love to hear from you!  Thanks and make it a great day :-)...
